Welcome to the Trips for Kids—Ladysmith website. Included within this site is information about this chapter, a calendar of our current events (not included in winter months), related links and postings about our most recent outings. While most TFK chapters focus primarily on mountain biking, because of our location — and latitude — we enjoy cross country skiing and snowshoeing as well. Regardless, our primary focus remains the same: to engage area youth in fun outdoor activities and through these activities help students develop positive habits of mind, identify alternatives to at-risk behaviors, and realize the inherit beauty and worth of our natural. resources. Our chapter started in the fall of 2009 with an inaugural ride in mid-October completed by 13 Ladysmith High School students. We have grown steadily over the years offering regularly scheduled rides throughout the spring, summer, and fall. We have also fielded an off-road cycling team the past two summers, and have created a new Nordic ski team at our high school. In addition, we work closely with the Ladysmith Area Trail Association helping with trail and facility maintenance.
